Personal Financial Matters

Unfortunately, there is a great debate about the value of an education in America today. What subjects should parents teach their children and what subjects should be part of their academic curriculum?

The fact that human beings are very unqiue in their individual talents and abilities is not largely recognized by our society. Some of the most basic tasks in life are not taught by parents or the school system. These important tasks inlude creating a budget, balancing a check book and making allowances for sporadic expenses such as clothing, medical care and car repairs.

Other topics that people need to understand, include what it takes to be an enterpneur, how to deal with difficult people, how to analyze risks and how to file their taxes. These are all basic topics that may not apply directly to some people, but an understanding of these topics will help people be as successful as they possibly can and are willing to be.

Financial success does not come over night. It often requires a great deal of time, effort, money and dedication. We all need to learn not only how to create plans but also how to implement plans. As a society, at one time we all agreed that it was in everyone's best interest for children to be educated with public funding. This allowed the poor children in the community to be educated as well. Societies thrive when all of their members are as productive as possible. Some infirmities and flaws (sometimes a mental or emotional disorder)  prevent certain people from being as productive as some others.

In conclusion, we need to create a system that allows everyone to contribute and reap the rewards. If you believe that all life has value, then you may agree that we need to help people figure out what their valuable contribution is and make it as easy as possible for them to contribute.
